MétéoMer is a research consultancy that provides oceanic meteorology services.
MétéoMer offers contractors involved with major maritime projects value-added services using basic data produced by the world's main weather centres in France, Germany, the USA and by the European Weather Forecasting Centre.
Our main clients are in the offshore oil and associated industries, shipping and marine engineering, harbour works and shipbuilding.
More specifically, MétéoMer offers the following expert services:
accurate marine forecasts for sensitive operations such as lifting special consignments,
campaign of in-situ measurements: waves, current, tides, wind speed, etc.
measurement of movements of barges and towed structures
oceanic meteorology studies of specific sites for designing
constructions: statistics, extreme conditions, reconstructions of specific events,
event counting, etc.
What sets MétéoMer apart is its ability to produce highly detailed oceanic weather analyses, which presupposes a precise knowledge of and the constant search for the initial conditions:
this involves using resources to obtain a description and characterisation of meteorological phenomena, mainly through the operational use of satellite data on the marine environment.
These methods enable MétéoMer to meet the practical requirements of operators exposed to major oceanic weather events, for whom a guarantee for information from 0 to 12 hours is a must, and also to take an active part in research into ways of using oceanic meteorological data in the design of new offshore constructions, particularly in deep-sea locations.
Offshore racing also benefits from our expertise.
In this field, MétéoMer offers a number of specialist services:
before the start of or during the race, by producing analyses and simulations enabling an optimum choice of statistical or real-time routes
preparatory courses for races
IT resources for processing information:
| |
> METEONAV: for meteorological navigation
> EOLIUS: for viewing the meteorological data required |
In addition to these services, we also distribute a world climatology atlas that is the only one of its kind since all the data are from satellite measurements: the CLIOSat atlas covers 170 zones and provides histograms of sea condition (height, periods and direction) and wind (strength and direction) parameters, and also crossed graphs of the same parameters.
